It also consists of medicated compress, acupressure and massage, which are exceptional category of acupuncture and moxibustion.

This book is suitable for TCM doctors, teachers, students and acupuncture practitioners.

Foreword

Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion is an essential component of traditional Chinese medicine and has a long history. The single point therapy has an important position in acupuncture and moxibustion. It refers to the use of a single point of acupuncture and moxibustion to treat and prevent diseases.

The single point therapy has the characteristics of good curative effects, a wide range of indications, simple application, low cost, safety and easy acceptance by the patients.

I published the book The Chinese Single Point Acupuncture and Moxibustion in China in 1992. The book becomes very popular and has been accepted by the general readers at home and abroad. Now I choose some of the methods, which are of good results, simple manipulation, easy to study and use, to compile this book.

This book consists of five chapters: painful diseases, internal diseases, surgical diseases, obstetrical, gynecological and pediatric diseases, and ophthalmic and E.N.T. diseases, 100 diseases in total. The book has a wide range of indications and is useful for clinic.

The book has a unified style throughout the book. In each disease, the point, location, method, result, case and discussion are introduced.

I am deeply indebted to Egyptian Doctor Aly Bayomy who works at the Cairo University and to Mrs. Ye Brathaver for their support during the writing of the book.

Wrist-ankle acupuncture is a modern acupuncture technique invented and developed by Professor Zhang Xinshu and his colleagues. The theory of wrist-ankle acupuncture is quite different from that of traditional acupuncture and has unique system of its own.

It is a needling technique in which filiform needles are inserted just through the skin on only six needling points of the wrist or ankle, and then advanced subcutaneously, to treat various diseases of the corresponding zones of the body where the symptoms are located. It has been successfully applied in the last 30 years to treat an extensive range of ailments. Its amazingly quick and satisfactory therapeutic effect, particularly in relieving pain, would definitely give you confidence in your practice of acupuncture.

Wrist-ankle acupuncture has been put into practice for just thirty years, but it has been well accepted by acupuncturists and the general population because of its advantages such as having a wide range of indications, good curative effect, simple manipulation, ease of understanding, safe usage and no side effect.

This book is the crystallization of the clinical and teaching experience of the authors. Focusing on applicability, in writing this book, efforts have been made to elucidate the manipulation skills of wrist-ankle acupuncture, and methods of clinical application were emphasized. A great amount of case records based on the authors' own clinical experience were used, and an elaboration of a group of pictures showing the manipulation skills was designed.

There can be no doubt that a thorough study of this book will be very helpful in the clinical work of all those who share an interest in acupuncture.
